Major Attractions of Kedarkantha Trek

  • Sankri: Sankri serves as the first base camp for the Kedarkantha trek and is a quaint, picturesque village in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. It also acts as a starting point for other iconic treks, including Har Ki Dun, Phulara Ridge, and Bali Pass, making it a hub for adventure enthusiasts.
  • Juda Ka Talab: Juda Ka Talab, a mesmerizing high-altitude lake, is the first campsite on the trek. Enclosed by dense forests of Rhododendron, Maple, Oak, and Pine, the lake exudes tranquility. In winter, its beauty multiplies as the frozen lake and surrounding snowfields create a magical landscape. Local folklore adds a mystical allure, with a story that Lord Shiva once cast a lock of his hair here, forming the pond. This mythical tale enhances the lake’s appeal for trekkers and locals alike.
  • Kedarkantha Base: The Kedarkantha base is a serene open area and a favorite campsite for trekkers. On the third day of the trek, this spot becomes your resting place. • Kedarkantha Peak: Standing tall at 12,500 feet, the Kedarkantha peak is the crown jewel of the trek. The summit rewards you with panoramic views of the majestic Himalayan ranges. It is adorned with small temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati, and Lord Ganesha, adding a spiritual essence to the experience. Witnessing the sunrise from the summit is truly magical, as the sky transforms into hues of orange and red, casting an ethereal glow over the snow-covered peaks.
  • Hargaon Base: Hargaon base is a charming campsite nestled amidst alpine trees, offering distant views of the Himalayan ranges.
