The Chandrashila Deoriatal Trek is a really popular trek in the Himalayas. It’s a journey that starts with a drive from Delhi to Chopta, often stopping at Rishikesh. Rishikesh is famous for yoga and is a holy place, right by the Ganges River. The drive is beautiful, with the Ganges flowing alongside the road. Rishikesh is a good place to stop for food and to see the town with its yoga places and cafes. After driving, you’ll arrive in Chopta, sometimes called “Mini Switzerland” because it’s so pretty. You’ll stay in camps there and relax in the mountains. The second day is for relaxing in Chopta. This helps you get used to the higher altitude. You can walk around and enjoy the quiet. Chopta has green fields and amazing views of the Himalayan mountains. It’s a great place to relax and enjoy the scenery. This easy day gets you ready for the trek to Tungnath and Chandrashila. The exciting part! On the third day, you’ll trek to Tungnath and Chandrashila. The trek is about 4 kilometers each way and takes about 8 hours. You’ll start from Chopta and walk uphill to Tungnath. Tungnath is a very important Hindu temple and the highest of the Panch Kedars. After visiting the temple, you’ll walk another 1.5 kilometers to Chandrashila peak, which is over 12,110 feet high. This last part is harder, but the views from the top are incredible, including Nanda Devi and Trishul mountains. After enjoying the view, you’ll walk back down to Chopta to sleep. On the last day, you’ll visit Deoriatal, a beautiful lake about 2 kilometers from Sari Village. The walk to the lake has lovely views, and the lake itself is known for its clear water and reflections of the mountains. After Deoriatal, you’ll drive back to Delhi, which is about a 5-6 hour drive. This ends your Chandrashila Deoriatal Trek with great memories of the mountains.
